Gaston Gazette features WSGE “DJ for a Day”
The secret is out! Thanks to the Gaston Gazette’s feature on the WSGE DJ for a Day program, now the whole county knows that for a small donation, you or a friend/family member can be a volunteer “DJ for a Day” at their favorite Independent Music Source, WSGE 91.7FM.
Gazette writer Alyssa Pressler learned of DJ for a Day through a Facebook posting by Superior Court Judge Jesse Caldwell. Noting the date was that weekend, she grabbed her laptop, reached out to Judge Caldwell and station manager Cathis Hall – and penned a wonderful article highlighting the DJ for a Day program and how community members can live out their deejay dreams right here at Gaston College.
This is Judge Caldwell’s third spin on the mic with beach and shag deejay Kyle Beam a.k.a The Right Reverend of Beach Music. The allure of sharing his love for beach music and introducing WSGE listeners to new shaggin’ tunes is only a couple reasons that Judge Caldwell as been a DJ for a Day on multiple occasions this year. He had participated in the program in March 2017 and again in June 2017, with another date on the schedule for October!
The DJ for a Day program is a program for anyone! WSGE staff would love to encourage any community member to donate $240.00 to the station by following this link. Once you donate, our membership coordinator, Sarah Evans, will reach out to set up a time and date – all you have to do is pick your favorite Deejay and the songs you want to showcase. It’s easy – and you can even break the amount down to 12 installments of $20 per month.
“I would absolutely encourage others to do it,” Caldwell said. “The thing about the station, they’ll help you in any way. The only thing I had to do is come up with my playlist.”
WSGE would like to thank the Gaston Gazette, Alyssa Pressler and Judge Caldwell for their support of this wonderful program.
