Consider This -Series on Race!

Consider This is a weekly public affairs show that explores issues that significantly impact our lives. In recent months protests occurring in Mecklenburg and Gaston Counties as well as across our state and nation have sparked debates on the state of racism in America. As an outgrowth of this important matter, starting Sunday, August 2nd at 11 a.m., we will begin a five-part series, titled “Moving Forward: Continuing the Pursuit of Equality”.

Consider This Producer Regan Brown and Segment Host of “Community Insight” Ken Szymanski will provide a series of interviews with professionals from five pillars of our community including criminal justice, business, education, religion and health care.

The scheduled guests are as follows: August 2 – Kevin Tully, Mecklenburg County Public Defender; August 9 – Christopher Moxley, Entrepreneur, Charlotte, NC;  August 16 – Dot Guthrie, Gaston County School Board, Gastonia, NC and Anokhi Sarsiya, Head of Schools, KIPP, Charlotte, NC and August 23 –  Rev. Dr. Benjamin Boswell, Senior Pastor, Myers Park Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC and Cedric Lundy, Watershed, Charlotte, NC and August 30 – Chris Dobbins, former Director, Gaston County Dept. of Health & Human Services, Gastonia, NC.

Hopefully this series will provide you with some additional perspectives to consider regarding the current state of race relations in our community and across our country.  Let’s all strive to work together to ensure a future where people will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
