Win an Entertainment Package!

Many of us had the pleasure of listening to our favorite radio stations in the 1970s, 80s or 90s when we were children, teens or young adults.  Because radio was such an integral part of our lives, we may readily recall station call letters, disc jockeys, syndicated programming and most importantly the artists that had us grooving to their hit songs.  As you may remember the 1970s created a perfect musical bridge from the rebelliousness of the 1960s and the happy songs that are characteristic of the 1980s. During that decade, we listened to Queen, Supertramp, The Bee Gees, Sly and the Family Stone, Rufus featuring Chaka Kahan and others. 

In the 1980s FM radio stations became the most popular. Many cities had FM stations that offered every possible variety of music, from jazz to classical, rock and roll to country.  Hit artists of the 80s included Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Joel, Lionel Ritchie, Pat Benatar, etc. As we transition to the the 1990s.  This decade is remembered as a period of media consolidation, where companies like Clear Channel and Infinity Broadcasting owned almost half of the radio stations in the U.S. Yet great music could still be heard from such artists as NIrvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince, Michael Jackson, etc.  Throughout our spring fund drive, we will recognize the music, artists and programming that was heard on radio during the 1970s – 1990s.  Help us continue to offer unique programming by Donating now to our spring fund drive.  Our goal is $70,000! 

When you donate from Wednesday, March 29 – Sunday,  April 9, 2023 at midnight, you will automatically be entered in the drawing for an Entertainment Package that will include The Victrola Empire Signature 7-in-1 Bluetooth Record Player with a 3-Speed Turntable. Stream your music via Bluetooth, or play your favorite tunes on the FM Radio, from the CD Player, or through the 3.5mm Auxiliary input!  We’ve also included in the package a 55-inch Samsung smart TV.  It boasts a native 4K resolution and advanced HDR technology. The package is valued at over $600.  The winner will be announced on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 6 p.m.  and will be required to pick up prize package from WSGE Radio, 201 Highway 321 South, Dallas, NC.
