Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” is this year’s big hit song and, as usual, everyone wants to cover the big hit song on Youtube. If you follow Gotye on Twitter (@gotye), you see him critique many of the various incarnations of his song. So after seeing just about anybody and everybody covering his work, he decided to make one of his own. Take a look below:
A pretty neat mashup of all the different versions floating around out there. This is one of the reasons people really like Gotye: he’s so genuine. Wally De Backer, the actual name of the man behind Gotye, seems like he’s the kind of guy you could hang out with after work or on a lazy Saturday afternoon. He even tweeted later that he forgot the version from Tay Zonde of “Chocolate Rain” fame and said it was “like slapping the internet in the face.” My guess is that kind of openness will help people remember him with any future albums.
