Tift Merritt Traveling Alone

Home has always been a place of comfort. Sometimes, however, a true home doesn’t really exist. Singer-songwriter Tift Merritt has been a traveler almost from the day she was born as her family moved from Texas to North Carolina very early in her life. A musician through and through, Merritt has chosen a career that requires constant travel. Traveling Alone is a collection of metaphors, many of which reflect the attitudes and emotions she feels on the road. One of the more unique artists she has met along the way is included as Andrew Bird duets beautifully with her on “Drifting Apart”. She rocks out a little more on “To Myself” before going into a rollicking piano and drum combination on “In The Way”. Throughout the entire album you get closer to Merritt and understand the affect of life on the road. Fortunately for her, even though she lives in New York and travels the country, she still feels North Carolina is her home. Her unique insights from her travels, however, truly set this album apart.
