Women’s History Month Features!
Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.
Throughout the month we will not only recognize outstanding women in music but also share short biographical data on local and national women who have tremendously impacted society. From a music perspective, we will air a countdown of the Top 31 Female Rock and Roll Singers on Friday, March 31. In addition, The hosts of The Saturday Night R&B House Party will recognize outstanding female R&B artists of the 1960s – 1980s on their weekly show.
On Consider This that airs Sundays at 11 a.m. Regan Brown (pictured below) will present a four-part series, titled, IT Girls Needed – Examining the Gender Gap in STEM. It will address stereotypes and biases that are impacting women of different races, ethnicities or cultures. The four part series will include the following:
- Episode I – Education (March 5) addresses the myth of the math brain. Research show no innate cognitive difference between men and women. The guest is high school student and future architect, Payton Eaves.
