Women’s History Month Features!
March is Women’s History Month and we are proud to bring to you a countdown of the thirty-one top female singers in Rock and Roll. The countdown will be aired on Tuesday, March 31st from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The criteria used to select these artists include impact and influence (commercial, musical and cultural), lasting popularity and talent. All genres of rock and roll were considered. In addition, input was gathered from music trade magazines, listeners and staff. Throughout the countdown, listeners will have an opportunity to win a three pack of CDs of current female artists or a “Friend of WSGE” member card.
Local and nationally recognized female artists will be featured on The Independent Artist Spotlight each Thursday at 4 p.m. Tim Greene will interview Danielia Cotton, P.J Brunson, Lissie and Mindi Abair. This feature airs again on Sunday morning during Consider This.
Women who reside in the Greater Charlotte, NC area that have made a significant difference in their chosen professions will be featured on “Community Insight” a segment included in our weekly public affairs program Consider This. It airs Sunday at 11 a.m.
The scheduled guests include retired Gaston College President, Dr. Patricia Skinner (shown in photo to right with host Ken Szymanski), Author Gloria Sloan, House of Mercy, President & CEO Emily Chambers Shape and others. These segments will be available on the Consider This podcast found on the home page of the website.
Finally, we will air recorded testimonials about women who have served as an inspiration to members of our listening audience. They will air Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday throughout the month.
